What the April 2026 pharmacist board exam covered
The Pharmacists Licensure Examination runs across two days and six subjects. Pharmaceutical Chemistry carries the highest weight at 20%. Practice of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutics each carry 17.5%. The remaining three subjects carry 15% each.
| Subject | Day | Time | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pharmaceutical Chemistry | Day 1 (April 18) | 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM | 20% |
| Pharmacognosy/Biochemistry | Day 1 (April 18) | 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM | 15% |
| Practice of Pharmacy | Day 1 (April 18) | 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM | 17.5% |
| Pharmacology-Pharmacokinetics | Day 2 (April 19) | 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM | 15% |

| Quality Control/Quality Assurance | Day 2 (April 19) | 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM | 15% |
What each subject actually tests
Pharmaceutical Chemistry is the heaviest subject at 20% and covers three branches: inorganic pharmaceutical chemistry, organic pharmaceutical chemistry, and qualitative pharmaceutical chemistry. It tests the chemical properties and reactions behind drug compounds, not just memorization of drug names.
Practice of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutics each carry 17.5% and are equally weighted. Practice of Pharmacy covers compounding and dispensing, clinical and hospital pharmacy, and pharmaceutical calculations. Pharmaceutics covers dosage form manufacturing, physical pharmacy, and also includes jurisprudence and ethics.
The remaining three subjects (Pharmacognosy/Biochemistry, Pharmacology-Pharmacokinetics, and Quality Control/QA) each carry 15%. Pharmacology-Pharmacokinetics includes toxicology, incompatibilities, and adverse drug reactions. Quality Control/QA covers drug testing with instrumentation, microbiology, and public health.
Passing requirements for the pharmacists board exam
To pass the Pharmacists Licensure Examination, you need a general weighted average of at least 75%. Additionally, no individual subject may fall below 50%. Passing one without the other is not enough. A strong average does not save you if one subject drops below the floor.
You passed: what to do next
Passing the Pharmacists Licensure Examination does not make you a licensed pharmacist yet. You still need oath-taking, PRC initial registration, and professional organization membership before you can legally practice.
| Step | What it involves | Cost of skipping |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Oath-taking | Register via LERIS at leris.prc.gov.ph, attend PRC mass oath-taking ceremony | No Certificate of Registration or PRC ID without it |
| 2. Initial PRC registration | Personal appearance at PRC, pay registration fee | Not officially a registered pharmacist without it |
| 3. Professional organization | Register with the Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPhA) or applicable accredited organization | Required for many employer and government positions |
Oath-taking and initial registration
Starting May 25, 2026, go to prc.gov.ph to register online for your Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration. Watch the official PRC Facebook page for the oath-taking schedule, which PRC posts within days of results. Successful examinees must personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.
For initial registration, bring the following to PRC:
- Downloaded and duly accomplished Oath Form (Panunumpa ng Propesyonal)
- Notice of Admission (for identification purposes only)
- 2 pieces passport-sized pictures (colored, white background, with complete name tag)
- 2 sets of documentary stamps
- 1 piece short brown envelope
What to do if you did not pass the April 2026 pharmacist board exam
There is no mandatory waiting period. As soon as PRC opens the application window for the next pharmacist board exam, you can file. PRC expects to hold the next Pharmacists Licensure Examination in October or November 2026. Check LERIS at leris.prc.gov.ph and the official PRC website for the updated schedule and filing period.
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Next pharmacist board exam | October/November 2026 (date to be confirmed by PRC) |
| Filing platform | Online via LERIS; print your NOA after approval |
| Requirements (repeater) | Typically NBI Clearance and Good Moral Certificate; verify complete list on LERIS |
Download your PRC rating slip as soon as it is available. It shows your exact score per subject. Use that number to build your retake plan. If Pharmaceutical Chemistry was your weak point, focus on the calculation-heavy and reaction mechanism questions. If Practice of Pharmacy fell short, prioritize pharmaceutical calculations and hospital pharmacy scenarios. Six months is enough to close most gaps if you start with a specific target rather than a general review.
