✅ Official results: released November 26, 2025
191 of 296 passed (64.53%).
How do I find my name in the passers list?
The passers list is a PDF; open it from the buttons above and search it for your name. On a phone, look for “Find in page” in the browser menu. Try your full name first, then your surname alone if nothing comes up.
Before the results come out
While the exam is still ahead or just finished, the box at the top carries PRC’s target release date. Treat any early “list is out” post as rumor until PRC publishes. The buttons above switch to the real files by themselves once it does.
This board has been quick. PRC posted the November 2024 and November 2025 results right after the exam ended, according to its own notices. That pattern can change, so watch the box rather than the calendar.
Latest results: November 2025 Geologists
The November 2025 Geologists results came out on November 26, 2025. The exam was given in NCR. Out of 296 takers, 191 passed. That is a 64.53% passing rate.
Board of Geology members: Hon. Fernando S. Peñarroyo, Chairman; Hon. Benjamin S. Austria and Hon. Elmer B. Billedo, Members. PRC opens online registration for new November 2025 passers on January 26, 2026.
How the latest results compare
The passing rate moved down 3.09 points from November 2024. The average across these three batches is 59.72%, so this batch is above average. A year earlier, November 2024 posted 67.62%. 53 fewer examinees took this batch than November 2024.
Geologist or mining engineer?
The two jobs often meet at the same site, but each has its own PRC license, board, and list. One line each:
- Geologist: a PRC license under Republic Act No. 10166. The work is finding and studying rock, minerals, groundwater, and geologic hazards (Section 5).
- Mining engineer: a separate PRC license with its own board. It gets the ore out of the ground. See our mining engineer board exam results.
- Fossils and dinosaurs are part of geology, but the license covers far more, such as mapping, exploration, groundwater, and hazards.
What does a geologist’s license cover?
Section 5 of RA 10166 lists the work. It starts with mapping, on land or offshore, to find rock types, mineral deposits, and energy sources such as oil, gas, coal, and geothermal heat. Exploration for minerals and energy is part of it. So is the search for underground water.
The list also includes geohazards: the study of faults, volcanoes, sinking ground, and erosion, and how they affect housing and infrastructure. For a real example of that kind of question, see our piece on the Bataan nuclear plant and earthquake faults. Writing geological reports and teaching the course count as practice too.
Every registered geologist gets a seal. Plans, specifications, reports, and other professional papers carry it on every sheet when filed officially or used professionally (Section 23).
Next geologist board exam schedule
The next Geologists exam is scheduled for November 25 to 27, 2026, based on PRC's 2026 schedule of examinations. Applications open August 27, 2026 and close October 26, 2026. PRC targets releasing the results by December 2, 2026.
The law says the exam must happen at least once a year (Section 15). PRC has held it every November lately: 2023, 2024, 2025, and November 25 to 27, 2026. The 2026 filing deadline is October 26. PRC holds it only in NCR, so takers from the provinces travel to Metro Manila. If no date shows above yet, PRC has not set the next one, and it will appear here when PRC does.
Who can take the exam?
Section 17 of RA 10166 sets four requirements:
- Philippine citizenship, or citizenship of a country with a reciprocity agreement with the Philippines.
- A degree in BS Geology, BS Geological Engineering, MS Geology, or an equivalent, from a school the government recognizes.
- Good moral character.
- No conviction for an offense involving moral turpitude, meaning a crime that shows dishonesty or bad character.
One group skips the exam. A Ph.D. graduate in Geology, or in a specialized branch of it, can register without the exam after the Board evaluates the degree (Section 26).
What is on the exam, and how is it scored?
Three subjects, one per day from Wednesday to Friday, and you need a 70% average with no subject below 50%. The law names three subjects and leaves the details to the Board. PRC’s program for November 2024 gave them this split:
- General geology: 40%
- Mineralogy and petrology: 30%
- Applied geology (mapping, exploration, geohazards, groundwater, laws): 30%
The passing rule is in Section 19. PRC’s 2022 and 2023 programs used the same 40-30-30 split.
If your name is not on the list
Look at the schedule box first; it shows the next sitting and its filing deadline. Since PRC holds this exam once a year in November, the next chance is roughly a year off.
RA 10166 puts no limit on retakes, and PRC’s notice for each exam has the current filing rules. Until then, complete whatever requirement is still missing and keep your documents together for the next application. Failing this list does not keep you from other jobs. First-time job seekers can get many government papers free under the First Time Jobseekers Act.
Here is how the last three exams went.
How do I check if a geologist is licensed?
PRC’s free search at verification.prc.gov.ph shows it. Select the profession, enter the geologist’s first and last name, and confirm the license is active. Our explainer on what a PRC license covers has the basics. A geologist’s signed reports also list their registration number and tax receipt number (Section 34).
After you pass
PRC opens online registration for new November 2025 passers on January 26, 2026. Next comes the oath-taking that PRC schedules. After registering, you get your certificate of registration and your PRC ID, which you renew every three years with continuing education units (Section 21).
New jobs ask for an SSS number early, and you can get your SSS number online. Nearby boards have their own pages as well: metallurgical engineering results, chemist results, chemical engineer results, civil engineer results, agricultural engineering results, and aeronautical engineer results.

The ground and the ore
On release day, these geologist board exam results give each taker a plain answer, and the next step follows from it: the oath, or the next November.
For everyone deciding on a course, one sentence covers it. The geologist studies the ground; the mining engineer takes from it. Two licenses, two boards.
