How do I find my name in the passers list?
Open PRC’s passers PDF from the buttons above, then search for your full name. On a phone, use your browser’s “Find in page” option. If nothing shows up, try your surname alone, and check the spelling PRC used.
Before the results come out
Before each release, the box at the top shows PRC’s target date. Until PRC posts the list, ignore any “results are out” screenshot or post you see. On release day, PRC posts the results on its website. The PDF buttons above then fill in by themselves.
For context, PRC released the October 2024 results one working day after the last exam day. In October 2025, it took two working days. That is the recent pattern, not a promise for the next one.
Latest results: October 2025 Metallurgical Engineers
On October 27, 2025, two working days after the last exam day, PRC posted the October 2025 Metallurgical Engineers results. That is a day slower than October 2024. The exam was given in NCR, Cagayan de Oro, Davao and Lucena. The passing rate was 73.44%: 47 passers out of 64 examinees.
The Board of Metallurgical Engineering gave the exam: Engr. Agustin M. Fudolig, Chairman and Engr. Juancho Pablo S. Calvez, Member. For October 2025 passers, online registration opens November 14, 2025.
How the latest results compare
Compared with October 2024, the passing rate went up 12.24 points. A year earlier, October 2024 posted 61.19%. 3 fewer examinees took this batch than October 2024.
Metallurgical, mining, chemical, or mechanical engineer?
These are four different licenses, each with its own board, exam, and list. The course titles sound close. The work follows the license, so here is the split in one line each:
- Mining engineering gets the ore out of the ground, in mines and quarries.
- Metallurgical engineering turns that ore into usable metal, then shapes and tests it (Republic Act No. 10688, Section 4).
- Chemical engineering covers chemical processes in industrial plants more broadly (RA 9297).
- Mechanical engineering designs and runs the machines and equipment that use the metal (RA 8495).
I took two years of chemical engineering before I moved to IT. Back then, I thought the engineering degrees were close enough and the board would sort out the details. It didn’t. So if you are choosing a course, check this split first, before the early subjects make the choice for you.
What does a metallurgical engineer’s license cover?
Section 5 of RA 10688 lists the work. In short, there are four kinds, all tied to metal plants:
- Plant work: running and checking metal plants, and testing new ones before they start.
- Testing: investigating and testing minerals and metal products.
- Design: plans and studies for plant equipment and processes.
- Teaching and research: teaching the course, training plant staff, and research.
Also, under Section 31, no company may run a metallurgical plant without a minimum number of licensed engineers on staff.
The plant foreman path
Most results pages skip this. The same law has a second registration, the metallurgical plant foreman. It needs no exam (Section 22). A high school graduate needs at least ten years of work in a metal plant. An engineering graduate needs five years. Your employer must certify the experience, and you also need to be Filipino and of good moral character.
Next metallurgical engineering board exam schedule
The law requires the exam at least once a year (Section 15). In both 2025 and 2026, PRC held it in October, as a computer-based exam over three days. The 2026 filing deadline was September 21. If no date shows above yet, PRC has not posted the next schedule. It appears here by itself once PRC does.
Who can take the exam?
Section 17 of RA 10688 sets four requirements:
- A BS in Metallurgical Engineering or Metallurgy, or a related engineering degree with a major in either.
- Filipino citizenship, or a country that gives Filipinos the same right.
- Good moral character.
- No conviction for a crime involving moral turpitude, which means a crime that shows dishonesty or bad character.
For parents, the road is narrow before the exam even starts. Only a few universities offer the course. PRC sets the exam fee (Section 18), and you pay it when you apply online. School costs vary too much between schools to state here.
What is on the exam, and how is it scored?
The exam covers five subject groups, and you need a 70% average with no subject below 50%.
- Mineral processing, extractive metallurgy, assaying, and chemistry.
- Physical and applied metallurgy.
- Fuel technology and refractory science (heat-resistant materials).
- Engineering management, law, and ethics.
- Applied mathematics and mechanics.
Each of the first two groups must weigh at least 30% of the total (Section 16). Section 19 sets the passing rule. Within 15 days of the last exam day, the Board must send the ratings to PRC (Section 20).
If your name is not on the list
First, check the next exam date and the filing deadline in the schedule above. PRC holds this exam once a year, so the next one is about twelve months away.
RA 10688 sets no limit on retakes and no refresher course rule. In the meantime, finish any other requirements and keep your documents ready for the next filing. If you are applying for jobs, the First Time Jobseekers Act lets first-time job seekers get many government documents free.
The pass rates above show how the latest exams went.
How do I check if a metallurgical engineer is licensed?
Search PRC’s free online license check at verification.prc.gov.ph. Pick the profession, then type the first and last name, and check that the PRC ID has not expired. Our guide on what a PRC license covers explains the license itself.
A metallurgical engineer’s official documents also show the “Registered Metallurgical Engineer” seal on every sheet. They also carry the registration number, the PTR number, and the APO membership receipt number (Sections 25 and 35). Penalties for practicing without a license are in Section 39 of the law.
After you pass
For October 2025 passers, online registration opens November 14, 2025. PRC then sets the oath-taking. Then you receive your certificate of registration and your PRC ID (Section 23). After that, you get your own seal from the Board (Section 25). You also become a member of the profession’s accredited professional organization once you pay its fees (Section 38).

Can I retake the exam, and is there a limit?
Yes. RA 10688 sets no limit on retakes and no refresher course rule. PRC holds the exam once a year, so apply for the next one by its filing deadline.
How do I check if a metallurgical engineer is licensed?

Its own board, its own list
For takers, these metallurgical engineering board exam results answer one question: your name is on the list or it is not. Either way, the next step is a date on PRC’s calendar.
For everyone else, keep one fact in mind. This board is its own list, separate from mining, chemical, and mechanical. The titles sound close, but the license and the list are not the same.
