I’m not a landscape architect. But I have a close connection to the profession. A college friend shifted into landscape architecture years ago, passed the CBLE, and now runs a small firm handling residential and resort projects here in CALABARZON. I also hired landscape professionals for our property in Indang, Cavite and later for the WisePH office grounds. Watching them work changed how I think about outdoor spaces. Landscape architects don’t just plant things. They design how people move through, rest in, and feel about a place. The licensure exam reflects exactly how difficult that skill set is.
Results, scoring rules, and the post-exam checklist are all below. For all PRC board exam results, visit our PRC board exam results page.
CBLE exam schedule: July 8 to 10, 2026
The exam runs across three days at PRC-accredited testing centers nationwide. Six subjects are covered, each weighted toward a 100-point total.
| Day | Subject | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Wednesday, July 8 | Landscape Architectural Design | 40% |
| Thursday, July 9 (AM) | Landscape Technology and Materials | 20% |
| Thursday, July 9 (PM) | History and Theory of Landscape Architecture | 10% |
| Friday, July 10 (AM) | Planting Design and Interior Plantscaping | 12% |
| Friday, July 10 (PM) | Ecology and Nature Conservation | 10% |
| Friday, July 10 (PM) | Professional Practice and Ethics | 8% |
How is the CBLE scored?
Passing the CBLE requires two conditions met at the same time. Your general weighted average (GWA) must reach at least 70%, and no single subject can fall below 50%. Both conditions apply. A strong score in Design cannot save you if Professional Practice and Ethics drops below the 50% floor.
Unlike the CPALE, which allows conditional examinees to retake only their failed subjects, the CBLE is outright pass or fail. Fail either condition and you retake all six subjects in the next cycle. There is no conditional status and no removal exam.
| Scenario | Design (40%) | Tech (20%) | Planting (12%) | History (10%) | Ecology (10%) | Ethics (8%) | GWA | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pass | 75% | 72% | 78% | 74% | 70% | 71% | 73.8% | PASS |
| GWA fail | 65% | 68% | 72% | 70% | 66% | 73% | 67.2% | FAIL |
| Floor fail | 80% | 75% | 76% | 72% | 70% | 44% | 75.4% | FAIL (floor) |
The floor fail example above is the one that catches most people off-guard. A 75% GWA and high marks in all five major subjects cannot override a 44% in Professional Practice and Ethics. That 8% subject has the same 50% floor as every other subject. Similarly, the PTLE follows the same all-or-nothing rule. First-timers tend to underweight the smaller subjects right up until results day.
Why Day 1 is where most points are won or lost
Ask anyone who has taken the CBLE and the answer is the same: Day 1 is the hardest.
Landscape Architectural Design carries 40% of the total score. It is not multiple choice. You receive a real-world scenario (a resort, a subdivision, a public park, or an institutional campus) and you have to produce a complete design output within a fixed time limit. Site analysis, conceptual plan, planting layout, grading and drainage concepts, hardscape details, sometimes working drawings. All of it, in one sitting.
My friend who passed the CBLE puts it plainly: “You can memorize the entire history of landscape architecture and still fail if you can’t draw a convincing site plan that actually works.”
The other subjects are more study-able. For history, technology, and professional practice, solid reviewers and past board questions get you through. Design day is different. It demands that you integrate everything at once: plant selection, BP 344 accessibility requirements, Philippine climate conditions, sustainability thinking, and client intent. That’s where first-timers lose the most ground.
What to bring on exam day
Pack your Notice of Admission, two No. 2 pencils, a black ballpen with a transparent casing, and one non-programmable calculator. PRC strictly prohibits smart watches, earphones, programmable calculators (including the CASIO FX-991ES and FX-991ES Plus), and bags of any kind.
Bring food, water, and medications in clear plastic containers or transparent bags. No food delivery is allowed once the exam starts. Report to your assigned building before 6:30 AM on the first day. PRC does not admit late examinees.
When does PRC release CBLE results?
The Board of Landscape Architecture releases results faster than most PRC boards. Results typically drop two working days after the last exam day. For the July 8 to 10, 2026 CBLE, the target date is July 14, 2026 (Monday). The July 2024 and July 2025 cycles followed the same two-working-day pattern, so this timeline is reliable.
Here is where to check:
- prc.gov.ph (official master list appears here first)
- PRC Official Facebook page (usually posts the announcement within minutes)
- prcboard.com and thesummitexpress.com (mirror sites that load faster when the PRC server gets hit hard)
Download the PDF master list and search your name offline using Ctrl+F. The LERIS individual ratings portal typically crashes in the first hour from traffic. As a result, individual scores usually appear a few hours after the master list drops. Don’t rely on LERIS alone when results first come out.
What to do after you pass the CBLE
Seeing your name on the list is a relief. The clock starts immediately after that.
Step 1: Attend oath-taking
PRC posts the oath-taking schedule 3 to 7 days after results. You can attend in person or virtually via Microsoft Teams. After the ceremony, download your Accomplished Oath Form right away. You will need it for every step that follows.
Step 2: Complete initial registration and claim your PRC ID
Go to online.prc.gov.ph and complete your initial registration. Prepare your Accomplished Oath Form, Notice of Admission, two passport-size photos with a white background, documentary stamps, and a short brown envelope. You also need to sign the Roster of Registered Professionals in person. You cannot legally sign landscape plans until you have your PRC ID and Certificate of Registration.
Step 3: Join the PSLA
The Philippine Society of Landscape Architects usually offers a new-passer rate right after results. Most clients and LGUs require a PSLA Certificate of Good Standing before they hire you, so joining early matters. Sign up as soon as your PRC ID is ready.
Total timeline: most new passers go from results to fully licensed in roughly three to five weeks. My friend’s standing advice: “Don’t relax after seeing your name. Prepare your documents the same day results come out. The sooner you finish the paperwork, the sooner you can start signing plans and getting paid as a licensed Landscape Architect.”

Passers: prepare documents the same day results come out, attend oathtaking, claim your PRC ID, and join PSLA within the first month. Retakers: wait for your individual subject scores on LERIS, then audit exactly which subject cost you the most points before planning the next cycle.
