How do I find my name in the passers list?
Open PRC’s passers PDF from the buttons above, then search for your full name. On a phone, use your browser’s “Find in page” option. If nothing shows up, try your surname alone, and check the spelling PRC used.
Before the results come out
Before each release, the box at the top shows PRC’s target date. Until PRC posts the list, ignore any “results are out” screenshot or post you see. On release day, PRC posts the results on its website, and the PDF buttons above fill in by themselves.
For context, PRC released the October 2025 results one working day after the last exam day. That is a recent pattern, not a promise for the next one.
Latest results: October 2025 Mining Engineers

Licensed mining engineer or small-scale miner?
These are two different tracks under two different laws. I have relatives who do small-scale gold mining in Benguet, and they are not mining engineers. That is why this section is here.
- Mining engineer: licensed by PRC’s Board of Mining Engineering under Republic Act No. 4274, the Mining Engineering Law. The license is for people who plan and take charge of mining work in a responsible and independent capacity, such as mine reports, ore reserve figures, and running underground or surface mines and quarries (Section 12).
- Small-scale miner: registers with the provincial or city mining regulatory board under Republic Act No. 7076, the People’s Small-Scale Mining Act (Section 8). That board, under the environment department, awards small-scale mining contracts (Sections 9 and 24).
One track is a professional license from PRC. The other is a registration under a separate law. This board exam is for the first track only.
Mining, metallurgical, geology, or civil?
Four courses, four separate boards and lists. Here is the split in one line each:
- Mining engineering gets the ore out of the ground, in mines and quarries.
- Metallurgical engineering turns the ore into metal.
- Geology finds and studies the rocks and minerals, under its own board.
- Civil engineering builds roads, bridges, and other structures.
Your name is only on the list of the exam you took. You don’t need a mining degree, either. A graduate of any engineering course or of geology can also take this exam with at least five years of practical mining experience, subject to the Board’s evaluation (Section 15).
Next mining engineer board exam schedule
PRC sets the dates in its yearly schedule of examinations, and they have moved around. PRC held recent exams in August 2023, October to November 2024, and October in 2025 and 2026. The 2026 filing deadline was September 21.
Exam dates can also change, including for typhoons. So check the schedule box above and PRC’s notices in the days before you travel. If no date shows above yet, PRC has not posted the next schedule. It appears here by itself once PRC does.
Who can take the exam?
Section 15 of RA 4274 sets these requirements:
- A BS in Mining Engineering, or the five-year experience path above.
- Good reputation and moral character.
- For foreigners, a country that gives Filipinos the same right.
- You may take the exam before you turn 21. However, PRC only gives you the certificate once you reach that age.
For parents, the license lets a passer take charge of mining work, as listed above. It is permission to do that work, not a promise of a job. PRC sets the exam fee, and you pay it when you apply online. School costs vary too much between schools to state here.
The mine and quarry foreman registration
The same law has a second registration, for mine and quarry foremen (Section 16). You qualify with at least five years of actual mining or quarrying experience. A mining or quarry course from a vocational school or a company training program also counts. You also need to be at least 21, with good moral character.
What is on the exam?
The Mining Engineering Law lists four subject areas (Section 17):
- Mining engineering and economics, mining laws, and ethics.
- Metallurgy, ore dressing, and assaying.
- Geology and surveying.
- Applied mathematics.
The Board can update the topics under each subject, so read PRC’s notice for your exam. PRC now gives the exam on computers at its testing centers. In October 2025, these were in Metro Manila, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, and Legazpi.
If your name is not on the list
First, check the next exam date and the filing deadline in the schedule above. Next, know the retake rule. The Mining Engineering Law sets no limit on retakes, and PRC’s notice for each exam has the current filing rules.
In the meantime, keep your documents ready for the next filing. If you are job hunting, the First Time Jobseekers Act lets first-time job seekers get many government documents free.
The pass rates above show how the latest exams went.
How do I check if a mining engineer is licensed?
Search PRC’s free online license check at verification.prc.gov.ph. Pick the profession, then type the first and last name, and check that the PRC ID has not expired. Our guide on what a PRC license covers explains the license itself.
At the site itself, the law asks the mine’s owner or manager to post the certificates of its registered mining engineers and foremen in plain view (Section 26).
After you pass
PRC opens online registration for new October 2025 passers on November 24, 2025. PRC then sets the oath-taking. After that, you receive your certificate of registration and your PRC ID. Your ID needs renewal from time to time, so keep an eye on its expiry date.
