TL;DR: Filipino SSS members can get a free MySSS RCBC DiskarTech card in 2026 with just one valid government ID. The digital card activates within 24 hours. The physical ATM card takes a few weeks to arrive. No maintaining balance. No application fee. The card also works as a valid government ID with your full name, photo, and date of birth printed on it.

The MySSS RCBC DiskarTech card is the Social Security System’s official ATM card for SSS members in the Philippines. It’s free to get, requires no maintaining balance, and doubles as a valid government-issued ID. Getting one is smooth and straightforward; but most guides skip the parts that actually matter, like how long the physical card takes or what you can and can’t do during the waiting period.

I applied for mine and walked through the full process. Here’s what actually happens, step by step.

What is the MySSS RCBC DiskarTech card?

The MySSS RCBC DiskarTech card is a BancNet ATM card issued by RCBC through the DiskarTech app, linked to your SSS account. It’s not Visa or Mastercard: it’s BancNet, which means it works for Philippine transactions: ATM withdrawals, bills payment, online transfers, and purchases on platforms that accept BancNet.

The card carries your SSS member information – full name, photo, and date of birth – making it a valid government ID in the Philippines. If you’re an SSS member who still doesn’t have a UMID, this card covers the same ID function while you wait.

Who can apply?

This card is for existing SSS members. You need an active SSS number, if you’ve ever contributed as an employed, self-employed, or voluntary member, you qualify. It’s not for first-time applicants who have never had an SSS number.

Having all the requirements ready makes the application fast. The process is designed for members who are already in the system. You’re not creating a new SSS account, you’re linking your existing one to the card.

  • Active SSS member (employed, self-employed, voluntary, or OFW)
  • One valid government ID
  • Access to the My.SSS online portal or SSS mobile app
  • DiskarTech app installed on your phone (Android or iOS)

How to apply for the MySSS RCBC DiskarTech card online

The application runs across two platforms: the SSS portal first, then the DiskarTech app. Both are required. You can’t skip directly to DiskarTech without completing the SSS portal step.

How to Apply: 6-Step Process Phase 1: My.SSS Portal 1 Log in to my.sss.gov.ph 2 Go to Member Info Select DiskarTech Card 3 Submit + upload valid ID Phase 2: DiskarTech App 4 Install DiskarTech Android or iOS 5 Register with SSS number Links your SSS account 6 Digital card active Within 24 hours SSS portal first, then DiskarTech app; both required
Complete the SSS portal steps before downloading DiskarTech. Both platforms are required.

Step 1: Log in to My.SSS

Go to my.sss.gov.ph and log in with your SSS credentials. If you’ve never set up an online account, register first using your SSS number.

Step 2: Find the DiskarTech card option

Navigate to the Member Info section. Look for the DiskarTech Card option. SSS updates their portal UI occasionally, so the exact menu path may shift, but the DiskarTech section is consistently under Member Info or a dedicated card tab.

Step 3: Submit your application

Fill in the required information and upload a photo of your valid government ID. Any government-issued ID works. Once submitted, SSS processes the application on their end before it moves to DiskarTech.

Step 4: Download and install DiskarTech

Get the DiskarTech app from the Google Play Store for Android or the App Store for iPhone. The app is available on both platforms.

Step 5: Register in the app using your SSS number

Open DiskarTech and register using your SSS member number. The app links your SSS account to your new digital card account. Follow the in-app prompts, the process is guided and straightforward.

Step 6: Wait for card activation

Your digital card activates within 24 hours. Once active, you can use the card details for online transactions immediately. The physical ATM card ships separately and takes longer.

How long does it take to get the physical card?

The digital card is active within 24 hours. The physical card is a different story. Delivery took weeks in my experience; not days. SSS and RCBC process the physical card production and mail it to your registered address after your digital card is confirmed active.

Digital card activates within 24 hours. Physical ATM card delivery takes several weeks.

Don’t wait for the physical card before using the account. The digital card number works for online bills payment and transfers right away. Use it while you wait.

What can you do with the MySSS RCBC DiskarTech card?

The card works like any other ATM card in the Philippines, with the BancNet network. Online transfers, ATM withdrawals, bills payment, and purchases on platforms that accept BancNet are all available. It’s a full-function account, not a prepaid card with limited features.

MySSS RCBC DiskarTech — Key Features Zero Balance No maintaining balance required Free to keep open Free ATM Withdrawals Free at RCBC machines Other banks: fee applies Valid Government ID Full name, photo and date of birth Accepted as ID nationwide Full Digital Banking Bills payment Online transfers BancNet purchases
Four key features of the MySSS RCBC DiskarTech card in 2026.

One thing to note: because it runs on BancNet and not Visa or Mastercard, it won’t work on international platforms that require a Visa/Mastercard. For Philippines-based transactions, it works as expected.

Is there a maintaining balance?

No. This is one of the card’s clearest advantages. There’s no minimum balance to keep, no monthly fees for holding a zero balance, and no penalty charges. The account stays open and active with zero pesos in it.

Free ATM withdrawals apply at RCBC machines. Other bank ATMs will charge a fee, and the amount depends on the bank. It’s the same setup most Philippine bank accounts use — free on home network, fee on other networks.

What requirements do I need?

One valid government ID. That’s it. Any government-issued photo ID works. The application process is digital, so you’ll upload a photo of it during the SSS portal step.

Because this is for existing SSS members, you already have an SSS number in the system. You’re not starting from scratch. The requirement load is light compared to opening a traditional bank account: no payslips, no proof of billing, no initial deposit.

Is this worth getting?

Yes, for most SSS members. The card costs nothing to apply for, nothing to maintain, and adds a valid government ID to your wallet. If you’re an SSS member without a UMID yet, this covers the same function while you wait. And as someone who tracks savings options for Filipino workers, it’s worth pairing this with a Pag-IBIG MP2 account if you want your idle money to actually work for you beyond a zero-yield card balance.

The only real friction is the physical card wait. Weeks is longer than most people expect. But the digital card is usable from day one, so it’s not a blocker.

SSS benefits you can access through DiskarTech

The DiskarTech app isn’t just a card manager. Once your account is active, you can access certain SSS benefit disbursements, check your SSS contribution history, and manage your account details. SSS has been expanding the app’s functionality; check the official SSS website for the latest list of available services through the platform.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has been pushing financial inclusion programs that DiskarTech falls under. The zero-maintaining-balance structure is part of that initiative. That context matters because it means the no-fee policy is tied to a regulatory framework, not just a promotional offer that can be quietly reversed.

Planning what to do with your SSS savings?

Getting the card is step one. What you do with the money that lands in it is the more important question. A lot of SSS members I’ve talked to keep their benefit payouts sitting in the DiskarTech account earning nothing. If that money won’t be touched for five years, it belongs in MP2, not a BancNet account.

Run your numbers before you decide. The MP2 Pag-IBIG savings calculator shows you exactly what 5,000 or 10,000 pesos deposited monthly looks like after five years at current dividend rates. Most people who check the projection add more than they originally planned. Check the latest oil price update if you’re budgeting around fuel costs, or review your 2026 BIR 1701A annual ITR filing before deciding how much to set aside for MP2 contributions.
